Grants And Incentives
grants and incentives
Grants are available for most renewable and low carbon technologies
Grants can be obtained through local authorities and utility companies. The energy savings trust can provide help and advice on grants that may be available in your area and for your property type.
In April 2011 the renewable heat incentive scheme (RHI) is scheduled to begin.
Under this scheme the government pays homeowners per Kw/h for the energy they produce using renewable technologies.
For small installations up to 45kw (20kw solar thermal) the proposed tariffs are:
| Product type | Tariff pence per kw/h | Lifetime of tariff |
|---|---|---|
| Air source heat pump | 7.5 | 18 years |
| Ground source heat pump | 7 | 23 years |
| Solar thermal | 18 | 20 years |
A well insulated three bed semi detached house of cavity wall construction generating heat from a ground source heat pump would therefore attract a payment of £936.00 per year for 23 years*
